The Institute Lopez Piñero organizes a workshop about the circulation of medical ideas and practices in the Early Modern Spain

The plan is to bring together a number of scholars working in different fields, ranging from the history of medicine, cultural history, or literary history, in order to consider and debate the circulation of medical ideas and practices between colonies and capitals, the textual, theatrical, and artistic representation of sickness and health, the construction of the local or indigenous and the relationship between medicine, politics and religion, from approaches and subjects that until now may have not been considered. Our attempt will be to formulate and theorize models that permit a more comprehensive understanding of early modern Spanish medical cultures. PROGRAM

Viernes 7 de octubre

9:00-9:30 h Recepción de los participantes y presentación de los organizadores.

10:00-10:30 h Mauricio Sánchez Menchero (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México). “Geografías médicas.
